I was born in Japan to German parents. Believe it or not, my first language is Japanese! Of course I also speak German--and English. My family lived in the beach town of Chigasaki, with wonderful views of Mt Fuji. For Grade School I attended St. Joe's College, located on the "Bluff" in Yokohama, and then I went the German School in Tokyo for High School.
In my late teens, I decided to go over to Germany. I trained as a lawyer in my parents' hometown of Freiburg. After receiving my law degree, I worked for three decades in Hamburg as a director and board member of an international Japanese company.
Five years ago, I moved to New York City, and am thrilled to now be living in the neighborhood that was once known as Little Germany, or Kleindeutschland.
